Event Overview
Participants from Flowserve took part in an Amazing Race activity organized by Making Teams Thailand on the afternoon of February 19th, 2019.
Location
The Amazing Race was held at various locations around central Bangkok, with the participants’ starting and finishing location being the JW Marriott Hotel.
Company/People
The team of approximately 25 from Flowserve was comprised of delegates from around the world but primarily South and Southeast Asia.
Event Objectives
The goal for this event was to experience a slice of Thai culture and points of interest around Bangkok, while working together as a team to manage their route and budget, solve challenges and try to beat the other teams to the finish line.
Team Building Activities
Participants were put into 3 teams preselected by Flowserve and sent to various locations around the city, led by a facilitator who revealed a series of consecutive location clues and challenges to their teams as they traversed the predesignated route. Some of the challenges included building and flying a traditional Thai kite, learning and performing a traditional Thai dance, as well as finding out culturally significant information about a variety of local attractions.
Schedule
2:30 – Participants are briefed and the race begins. Teams pass through a series of known locations around central Bangkok.
5:30 – Teams start making their way back to the finish line
6:00 – Teams are given a final debriefing and the winning team is announced. Final pictures are taken with the winning team, as well as the group as a whole.
